This pub was actually named in honor of a group of fireman killed during a horrific Cardage factory fire in Glasgow, Scotland. Johnnie MacCracken, our mascot is the symbol for Celtic values: “ I believe in truth, Honor, Justice, My word ' s my bond. I say ” .

Who owns Johnnie MacCracken ' s & is he Irish ?

This pub was built to honor the pub owner ' s father, Henry Grady Leake of Scots Irish Ancestry. His photo & family history are hanging in the front entrance where he is pictured in his Marine Dress Uniform. This pub was invented to celebrate life as described on our motto nailed to the front door: “ Live Well, Laugh a lot, & Love often ” . The owner ' s father was Baptist and his mom was a Catholic. Because of where they were from and their differences they eloped to get married. Our family history has roots in the Marietta area and our name has been associated with a hotel and an Antebellum home still standing on Church Street. After the death of his father he just wanted to have some fun and that is the reason for this pub.

What is up with the Fire Department Memorabilia ?

You are in the oldest standing Fire Department in Cobb County & one of the oldest professional Fire Departments in the state of Georgia. Chartered in 1885 as Marietta Engine Company #1, after the great Marietta fire that started in the basement of Denmeades ' s Drug Store, which almost claimed the entire “ square ” . Later after the Aroura pumper was retired and more modern equipment was necessary, the Fire Department moved down Atlanta Street and 15 Atlanta Street became “ Session ' s Savings & Loan ” . Evidence of this can be seen by the mahogany trim and the two working bank vaults to the left of the bar.
